A man has been treated in hospital for head and facial injuries after being assaulted on a busy Glasgow street last night.

The 30-year-old was attacked by a gang of men on Buchanan Street, near to St Vincent Street, at around 9.20pm.

The victim managed to make it home to Paisley where an ambulance was called.

He was taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital and has since been released.

Detective Constable Andy Shields, Glasgow City Centre Police Station, said:

"It appears that a group of men came up to the man and, for whatever reason, attacked him by kicking and punching him to the ground.

"The suspects are not described at this time.

"Officers are checking CCTV and making enquiries, however, are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack or who may have any information that will assist their enquiries.

"Buchanan Street would no doubt have been still quite busy at this time, so if you were there and saw the attack, then please call the CID at Glasgow City Centre Police Station on 101.

Please quote incident number 4592/10/02 when calling.

"Information can also be passed to Crimestoppers on 0800 55 111 where details can be given in confidence."
