Man caught 'wielding knife' as people told to stay indoors

A man has been arrested after allegedly wielding a knife forcing residents to stay indoors.
Armed police were called to Newburgh High Street in Fife at 8.30pm on Friday.
A 36-year-old man is said to have been caught wielding a knife.
Residents said they were told to stay indoors while officers negotiated with the man before he was later arrested.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At 8.30pm, police dealt with a male causing a disturbance on High Street in Newburgh.
"The male entered a flat nearby and after a period of prolonged negotiations the male was compliantly contained and arrested.
"Nobody was injured and a 36-year-old male is in custody."
