A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following an alleged stabbing in Edinburgh.

A 24-year-old man was seriously injured in an incident at The Mousetrap pub in Leith Walk in the early hours of Sunday.

Peter Ross, 39, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.

Ross, from Edinburgh, was charged with assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement and danger of life.

He was further charged with attempted murder.

No plea was entered in relation to the charges.

The case was continued for further examination and the accused was released on bail.
