A helter skelter with an adult twist is coming to the Edinburgh Fringe.

The new high level attraction, Sip & Slide, is being built outside the Assembly Rooms on George Street.

Festival-goers are encouraged to climb to the top and take in views of the New Town while sipping on a beverage - bringing a modern twist to a classic attraction.

After, they can choose to take the stairs, or take the faster route of sliding back down to the ground - all while trying not to get too dizzy.

Triple E Ltd, Slip & Slides creators, are "delighted" that Assembly brought their "vision of fun" to the month-long festival.

The city centre slide will open from Friday and will run until the end of the festival from 11am to 11pm daily.

Director of the venue, William Burdett-Coutts, said: "Heading into my 40th fringe I am delighted and excited by our festival programme.

"To ensure that Edinburgh maintains its reputation as a world-class destination and that audiences in their thousands continue to flock to the Fringe in August, we need to constantly think about reinvention.

"This means investing in huge amounts of infrastructure, building new relationships and developing new ideas to ensure that every year we have a fantastic August".
