Today is the last day for the winner of a £350,000 Lotto HotPicks ticket to claim their prize.

The lucky ticket for the February 3 draw was bought in West Lothian and its owner has had 180 days to claim the money.

If unclaimed, the prize money and the interest it has generated will go to National Lottery-funded projects Across the UK.

This comes as a lucky Scots couple were announced as the winners of a £57.9m EuroMillions jackpot.

The pair from Aberdeenshire are teaching Lottery players everywhere a lesson, as they were initially told they did not have a winning ticket, and it was ripped in half and put in the bin.

Luckily for them, a message on a lottery terminal in Fred and Lesley Higgins's local shop told them to keep hold of the ripped ticket and call operator Camelot.

They were given the torn ticket back, went home and checked the numbers to find they did indeed match and they were the winners of the July 10 jackpot.

The warning to be heeded is to always double check and take care of your ticket.

If you have misplaced your ticket, the advice on the National Lottery website is to look through pockets of clothing, in walls, bags and down the back of the sofa.
