A man has been arrested after a pedestrian was struck by a motorbike.

The incident happened on Leith Walk near the junction of Jane Street in Leith, Edinburgh, at 12.40am on Sunday.

A 22-year-old woman was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with a serious leg injury after being hit by a Kawasaki motorbike.

Officers closed the road for more than four hours while investigations were carried out.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Officers in Edinburgh were alerted at 12.40am to a report of a traffic collision on Leith Walk off the junction of Jane Street involving a a 22-year-old pedestrian and a Kawasaki motorbike.

"The woman sustained a serious leg injury and is at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

"A 32-year-old man has been arrested in relation to various road traffic offences.

"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
