Theresa May was booed during her visit to Edinburgh University this week.

The Prime Minister was confronted by hecklers including comedian Janey Godley when she arrived at the Technology Institute on Tuesday.

Godley, who is performing at the Fringe, shouted: "Theresa, are you coming in the show? We've got a food bank."

Godley, who also joined protests during US President Donald Trump's recent visit to Scotland, continued: "Is your shoes lovely Theresa? We've got nice food banks."

May was in Edinburgh to sign a £1.2bn City Deal with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

In an interview conducted later on Tuesday, May accused the Scottish Government of "sowing politics of division".

"It's incumbent on the Scottish Government to support proposals - to be speaking up for those proposals in Europe - rather than sowing the politics of division," she said.

During her brief visit to Edinburgh, May also met members of the Soweto Gospel Choir, who are performing as part of city's the annual Fringe Festival.
