A woman's body has been discovered in an area of woodland in Fife.

Police were called to Calais Muir Woods in Dunfermline at around 11am on Saturday.

They described the 39-year-old's death as "sudden" but do not believe it is suspicious.

Detective chief inspector John Anderson said enquiries are at an early stage.

"We would like to assure the community that at this stage there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances," he said.

"There will be a uniformed presence in the area to allow the investigation to take place and we thank members of the public for their patience."
