An ambulance has overturned after colliding with a car on its way to a 999 call.

The crash occurred shortly before 6.40am on Wednesday in Whitburn, West Lothian.

Nobody was injured in the collision on East Main Street and the ambulance was not carrying a patient.

The road remained open while the ambulance was recovered, a Police Scotland spokesman said.

"There were two vehicles involved in the crash, a Ford Ranger and the ambulance," they said.

"The ambulance was on its side but there were no injuries and the road didn't have to be closed."

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service Added: "Another ambulance was sent to the 999 call."
