A skeleton-masked robber made off with a three-figure sum of cash after targeting an Edinburgh store on Halloween.

The man, disguised in a black catsuit with black gloves, threatened staff with a knife before escaping with the stolen money towards Morningside.

The incident happened at around 9.50pm on Wednesday at the Margiotta food store on Comiston Road.

The suspect is believed to be aged between 16 and 20, around 5ft 4in, and is of slim build. He was carrying an orange plastic bag.

His black gloves also had a white logo on the top of both hands.

Police officers are now investigating and anyone who can help with the ongoing inquiry is asked to come forward.

Detective sergeant Gavin Howat said: "Although no-one was injured during the incident it was a harrowing experience for the members of staff.

"I would ask anyone who was in the Comiston Road area on Wednesday night and who may have seen anything or who knows who was responsible to get in touch."
