A man who tried to rape a young woman he met at a house party in Edinburgh is behind bars after admitting the attack.

Kristoffer Rorrison pounced on his 23-year-old victim outside a flat in the city's Tollcross in July, before pinning her to the ground as she screamed for him to stop.

During his trial on Thursday, the High Court in Glasgow heard the 24-year-old from Muirhouse only stopped when another man heard the woman's screams and told him he was calling the police.

The ordeal began when Rorrison began chatting to the victim in the party and continued outside after she left the flat where the court heard he began "coming on" to the woman and implying he wanted to have sex with her.

He then exposed himself to the woman before pushing her to the ground.

The victim tried to fight him off and kick her attacker who is described as "significantly bigger" than her.

The neighbour who heard the woman's screams then spotted Rorrison and shouted that he was calling the police, causing him to flee.

Rorrison, who also pled guilty to a drugs charge, has been placed on the sex offenders register and remanded in custody until his sentencing next month.
