A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder of a pensioner and assaulting three others, including a police officer.

Michael Jameson, from Linlithgow, was charged with the attempted murder of a 79-year-old man in Polbeth, West Lothian, on Saturday, November 3.

The 21-year-old was also charged with the assault of a 79-year-old woman, an 82-year-old man, a 30-year-old man and a police officer.

He appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court on Monday and made no plea.

Mr Jameson was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

He is due to appear in court again within the next eight days.
