A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a woman in a house.

William Angus Finlay was arrested over the alleged killing on Carmuirs Avenue in Camelon, Falkirk.

The 56-year-old, of Falkirk, is accused of murdering Fiona McDonald, 44, on Tuesday.

Finlay made no plea or declaration during the private hearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court and was committed for further examination.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in court at a later date.
