A 17-year-old man has died and two other teenagers are seriously injured following a crash near Kirkcaldy.

Police were called to the accident on Standing Stane Road on the A915 at around 8:45 on Sunday.

A 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene while another two men, aged 17 and 18, were taken to the Royal Infirmary Hospital.

Both men are described as being in a critical condition.

Police confirmed that a 17-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently receiving treatment at Ninewells Hospital.

The road is currently closed while emergency services are in attendance.

Police Scotland have appealed for anybody who may have seen a black Corsa in the area or who has information on the incident to contact them on 101
