A second teenager has died in a car crash which also killed his friend.

Connor Aird died in hospital after the smash on the A915 Standing Stane Road between Kirkcaldy and Methilhill in Fife.

The 17-year-old was pronounced dead in Western General Hospital, Edinburgh, on Friday night.

His friend, Ethan King, 18, who was also a passenger in the black Vauxhall Corsa, died earlier this week following the smash, which happened on Sunday morning.

Another 18-year-old man was seriously injured and remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Officers arrested a man following the crash.

Sergeant Nicola Young said: "Tragically as a result of the collision a second young person has lost their life and our thoughts remain with his family and friends, as well as those of the other injured parties, at this difficult time.

"I would again appeal to anyone who may have information to assist our inquiries, and has not yet spoken to officer, to come forward at their earliest convenience."

Hundreds of devastated friends and loved ones are to gather on Kirkcaldy Promenade on Saturday night to pay tribute to the teenagers.

In a tribute, a friend posted on social media: "Rest easy boys.

"We all love you so much. Take care of each other up there, yous were one in a million and you both will be greatly missed.

"My heart is truly broken, until we meet again."
