A six-year-old boy has been struck by a car outside an ice arena.

The incident happened near the Fife Ice Arena on Rosslyn Street in Kirkcaldy at 10.15pm on Saturday.

The child was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Officers closed the road for around an hour while investigations were carried out.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "He was conscious and breathing.

"The boy was taken to hospital as a precaution.

"He was walking and talking.

"The road was initially closed at the north end at 10.24pm and we left at 11.18pm."
