A body which was found after a fire ripped through a house was a man.

An investigation is being carried out into the blaze on Graham Way in Knightsridge, Livingston.

Officers have alerted the family of the man who they believe the body belongs to.

The house has been cordoned off while flowers have been given in memory of the man in his 40s.

Detective Sergeant David MacMillan of Livingston CID said: "Our enquiries continue with colleagues in the fire service as we work to establish the full circumstances surrounding this.

"However, the fire is not currently being treated as suspicious.

"The family of the man believed to have passed away are being kept fully updated, and the community are thanked for their ongoing cooperation with emergency services."

Senior officer David Lockhart added: "The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 3.58am on Saturday, November 18, to reports of a fire within a house in Livingston.

"Operations control mobilised four fire engines to Graham Way where firefighters were met with a well-developed fire.

"Crews extinguished the fire, but sadly a person was found to have passed away at the scene and our thoughts are with all of those who are affected at this time.

"A joint investigation with Police Scotland is ongoing to establish the circumstances."
