The incident happened near Dysart Harbour shortly before 2pm on Thursday.
A 54-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene despite paramedics trying to save him.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police in Fife responded along with other emergency services to the Dysart Harbour area at around 1.55pm on Thursday following a report that a man had fallen from the cliff.
"Despite the best efforts of the Scottish Ambulance Service, the 54-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident are ongoing."
