A man has appeared in court charged with assaulting Hearts goalkeeper Zdenek Zlamal.

Zamal was allegedly punched by a fan during the Edinburgh derby with Hibs at Tynecastle on October 31.

Edward Harrold, from Stoneyhill Road, Musselburgh, appeared at the city's Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old pleaded not guilty to punching Zamal on the head and causing him to fall to the ground.

A trial date was fixed for February next year.

During the bad-tempered 0-0 draw, Hibs manager Neil Lennon was struck with a coin in a separate incident.
