A cyclist who died after a collision with a car in West Lothian has been named by police.

Gwyndaf Bailey, from Livingston, was struck by a Mercedes on the A89 near Dechmont at around 5.20pm on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old was pronounced dead a short time later as he was being taken to hospital.

Police closed the road, near the former Bangour Village Hospital, for around seven hours while investigation works took place.

The 45-year-old male driver of the car was uninjured.

Sergeant Jill Kirkpatrick said: "Our deepest sympathies continue to be with Mr Bailey's family and friends as they come to terms with their loss and we have specialist officers supporting them at this time.

"Our inquiries into what happened remain ongoing and I'd like to thank those witnesses who have assisted us so far with our investigation.
