Man stabbed during footpath attack behind golf club
The 40-year-old suffered injuries to his stomach and arm following the knife attack in East Lothian.
A man has been stabbed on a public footpath behind a golf club in East Lothian.
The 40-year-old was was walking between Newbigging and Stoneybank behind Musselburgh Golf Club at around 11.30am on Friday when the knife attack took place.
He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he was treated for injuries to his stomach and arm before being released.
Officers are looking to identify those responsible and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Constable Kimberley Allan from Lothians and Scottish Borders CID said: "Fortunately the victim's injuries were not too serious, or this could have been a very different investigation.
"At this time we don't have a description or any details of those responsible.
"As such, we are keen to hear from anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity in the area that attack took place on Friday afternoon.
"Likewise, any members of the public with any other relevant information, including details of those responsible for the assault, are urged to contact police immediately."
