TV comedian Phill Jupitus has been fined over a hit-and-run crash in Fife.

The Never Mind the Buzzcocks star smashed his Volvo SUV into a Ford Ranger pickup truck on Main Street, Colinsburgh, Fife, last December before driving off.

At the Justice of the Peace court in Dundee on Tuesday, Jupitus was fined £300 over the crash.

The 56-year-old, who lives in nearby Pittenweem, was not present for the short hearing but pleaded guilty on summary complaint to a charge of failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

The charge stated that his car collided with the Ford and that he failed to stop and give his name and address to the car's owner.

His not guilty plea to a second charge of failing to report the accident to police within 24 hours was accepted by the Crown.

In addition to the fine, justice of the peace Sarah Walker added five points to his driving licence.
