Police have confirmed a body found in woodlands is a man who's been missing for more than a month.

James Cornforth, 36, was last seen leaving the cinema at the Ocean Terminal shopping centre in Leith, Edinburgh, shortly after 3pm on Tuesday, February 5.

Police said at the time that they believed he may be trying to reach the Highlands.

On Thursday, they said a body had been found in Newbridge, Edinburgh, and have now confirmed it was Mr Cornforth.

James' dad Martin Cornforth said: "I'd like to thank the police, the media, and members of the public who helped in the search for James."

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Inspector Jonny Elliott from Drylaw Police Station said: "Our thoughts and sympathies are with James's family and friends as they come to terms with this news and we will continue to provide them with the necessary support at this difficult time.

"I'd like to thank those members of the public and the media who assisted with our missing person appeals over the course of the last month."
