A woman has been sexually assaulted on board a train travelling from Edinburgh.

The incident took place when the victim was on the Edinburgh Park to Dunblane service between 10.45pm and 11.25pm on Wednesday.

A man came up and sat next to the woman, who is aged in her forties, before engaging her in small talk and blocking her in her seat.

He then subjected her to a prolonged and repeated sexual assault.

After the woman left the train in Stirling the suspect continued to follow her through her the station and touch her inappropriately.

The suspect was wearing a green jacket and chino trousers.

British Transport Police are now appealing for witnesses and are particularly keen on speaking to a member of the public who was sat opposite the victim and could hold vital information.
