Two men have been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash in Fife.

One of the casualties had to be airlifted to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, while the other was transported to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment following the smash on the A985 just outside of High Valleyfield at around 3.45pm on Friday.

The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time.

Emergency services remain at the scene and police have closed the road between Longannet Roundabout and Cairneyhill.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At around 3.45pm, police received a report of a road collision involving two vehicles on the A985 near to the junction of B9037, west of High Valleyfield.

"Two victims were taken to hospital. One was airlifted to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, the other was taken to Ninewells Hospital.

"Road closures are currently in place. Emergency services are still at the scene."
