The latest Vanity Fair cover appeared to hit back at the Oscars race row with this stunning shot of some of Hollywood's leading ladies.

Female diversity was celebrated in the stylish snap taken by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz.

It featured this year's Best Actress nominees Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lawrence, Brie Larson, Charlotte Rampling and Saoirse Ronan.

Viola Davis, Rachel Weisz, Lupita Nyong'o, Alicia Vikander and Gugu Mbatha-Raw were also pictured.

While movie heavyweights Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren and Diane Keaton certainly kept up with their younger counterparts in the 22nd edition of Vanity Fair's Tinseltown special.

This year's Oscars has come under fire after several stars said they would not be attending due to a lack of black nominees.

Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett confirmed they were **boycotting the ceremony**saying he would feel "uncomfortable" being there.

Film director Spike Lee also refused to go to the event which takes place on February 28.

Best Actress nominee Charlotte Rampling later came under fire after saying the boycott was "racist to white people".
