Beyonce, Coldplay and Bruno Mars are set to entertain an audience of more than 100 million as they perform the Super Bowl's much-anticipated half-time show.

Coldplay are making their Super Bowl debut on Sunday, while pop superstar Beyonce will return to the stage for the first time since 2013. Mars played a year later, in 2014.

Coldplay posted a teaser for their performance on Twitter which showed lead singer Chris Martin running on the field in San Francisco.

Mars also posted a picture of his preparations on Instagram with the caption 'Mars Has Landed' and the hashtag SB50.

Lady Gaga will sing the US national anthem before the game between the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos and Tweeted about the "honour".

The Super Bowl is the highlight of the American football calendar, and attracts some of the biggest names in music for the half-time entertainment show.

Previous performers include Katy Perry, Madonna, and the Rolling Stones.

An average of 114.4 million people watched Super Bowl in 2015, making the game the most watched in the history of US television.
