Former James Bond director Guy Hamilton has died at the age of 93, according to ex-007 Sir Roger Moore.

Sir Roger, who starred in many Bond thrillers including 1979's Moonraker, said he was "incredibly saddened" to hear of the director's passing.

Hamilton was the director when Sir Roger played Bond in Live and Let Die and The Man with the Golden Gun.

Additionally, Hamilton also directed when original Bond Sir Sean Connery starred in Goldfinger in 1964 and Diamonds Are Forever in 1971.

He died on Wednesday in a hospital in Mallorca, according to the BBC.

Hamilton's other films included The Battle of Britain, Force 10 From Navarone, Evil Under the Sun and The Mirror Crack'd.

He was also behind The Colditz Story and Sir Michael Caine thriller Funeral in Berlin.
