Rapper 50 Cent has made a public apology to an airport worker he accused of being "high" on drugs after finding out the teenage janitor is autistic.

It comes after the singer faced heavy criticism for taking a video himself taunting 19-year-old Andrew Farrell while he was on shift and then mocking him on social media saying he was "high" with "pupils dilated and everything".

He released a statement to the New York Post saying he was "truly sorry" after he posted the video of Cincinnati airport worker Andrew on his Instagram page claiming he was "high as a motherf****r right here in the airport" when he was not.

After the video went online it emerged the airport worker has severe social anxiety due to his autism and ignored the rapper and his taunts as he finds it hard to communicate.

Andrew's father Kent told local news outlet WLWT5 what the rapper did was was inappropriate and suggested it could affect his son's confidence.

He said: "To put this video out there saying my son is on drugs or whatever, that is part of his social anxiety. He's not wanting to talk, he's not wanting to communicate, he's walking on and he's doing his job."

50 Cent's video has since been removed from the rapper's Instagram page.
