The families of the British band killed when their car plunged 80ft from a bridge in Sweden have thanked music fans for sending their debut album to number one.

Viola Beach's loved ones added the tragedy would no longer "define their lives", but the pain of losing the indie four-piece and their manager "will never leave us".

Singer Kris Leonard, guitarist River Reeves, bassist Tomas Lowe, drummer Jack Dakin, and their manager Craig Tarry died in February after their car went off a bridge into a canal near Stockholm.

Relatives of the Warrington band say they hope the success of the self-titled album and support from fans would "live longer in the memory than the pain".

The album is made up of nine songs, including the lead single Boys That Sing.

The Official Albums Chart has produced five Number One album awards, recognising the achievement of each band member and their manager.
