He's one of the biggest names to perform an open-air concert in Glasgow this summer.

Musical luminary and judge on The Voice Tom Jones jetted into the city for a performance at the Kelvingrove bandstand, a historic venue that has welcomed the likes of Van Morrison and Idlewild in the past week.

The Welsh singer's arrival had the 2500-capacity amphitheatre teeming to hear favourites such as It's Not Unusual and Delilah, in another instalment of the Summer Nights Festival.

The city may not be renowned for its summer climate - but the sun came out for the occasion.

And no wonder - after a career spanning 50 years, the star is still never too busy to make time for his fans, such as Stephen Berry here.

While he was taking selfies, the bandstand began to fill.

But while the majority of ticket holders were overjoyed to hear Jones' soulful warblings, others were sceptical, for some reason.

Tension mounted as revellers awaited his arrival on stage, taking in every aspect of the set up. That's a sousaphone you can see there.

And then he arrived.

At age 75, the star gave it his all for an adoring crowd.

We can confirm undergarments were thrown.

But none for the brass player, we don't think.

Everyone was there - even the odd MP managed to get the night off.

Even those who couldn't make it along (or who didn't bother buying tickets) enjoyed Jones' sultry sounds as they glided over the Glaswegian vista.

He even paid homage to the late great Prince - his cover of Kiss was dubbed one the most danceable songs in history.

Glasgow loves you Tom Jones.

The festival continues with Lloyd Cole and the Leopards on Wednesday, who were cancelled because of Sunday's bad weather, and Primal Scream on Thursday.
