Johnny Depp is Hollywood's most overpaid actor for the second year in row, according to Forbes.

Depp brought in just $2.80 (£2.21) at the box office for every dollar he was paid for his last three films, according to the US magazine.

Depp's latest flop Alice Through the Looking Glass grossed only $77 million (£61 million) in the US - making back less than half the $170 million (£134 million) it cost to make.

Although the film did go on to reap $300 million (£24 million) internationally.

Depp also suffered poor box office returns with the 2015 comedy Mortdecai and his 2014 film Transcendence.

Will Smith ranked second on the Forbes list, returning just $5 (£3.95) for every dollar he earned following the release of Concussion and Focus.

Channing Tatum came in third following the 2015 flop Jupiter Ascending, leaving him with $6 (£4.75) earned at the box office for every dollar he was paid.

Will Ferrell was fourth with $6.50 (£5.14) brought in for every dollar he earned, while George Clooney was fifth, returning $6.70 at the box office for every dollar he was paid.

The magazine discounted animated films from the list, as well as movies where actors had an insignificant role or where they were released in fewer than 2,000 cinemas.
