Scottish Celtic rockers Runrig have announced an extra gig after 25,000 tickets sold out within minutes for the band's farewell concert.

The additional event will be held in City Park, Stirling, on August 17 next year.

It comes after tickets for next summer's final open-air concert on August 18 sold out in minutes.

Billed as one of the biggest events the band has staged, the celebration will be a thank you to those who have followed Runrig over the decades.

Tickets for the extra gig are on sale from 10am on Thursday.

The band, who formed on Skye in 1973, are retiring after 45 years in the music business.

Runrig have performed at venues in the UK and Europe including the Albert Hall in London and Times Square in New York.

The group are most famous for their version of Loch Lomond, which they say has become an "unofficial alternative Scottish anthem".
