Peter Kay will play two stand-up shows in Scotland as part of his first live comedy tour in eight years.

The Max and Paddy and Phoenix Nights star will perform at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on consecutive nights on Monday, May 14, and Tuesday, May 15.

Despite not having toured since his record-breaking run in 2010, when he played to more than 1.2 million fans in total, the 44-year-old remains one of the UKs most popular comedians.

On his return to stand-up, the multi-award-winning actor, writer, director, author and producer said: "I really miss it.

"I know how lucky I am to be making television series and have really loved these past few years working on Car Share but I miss doing stand-up.

"As terrifying as it is, when it works there's nothing more fun and exciting. Plus, a lot has happened in the last eight years, with Trump, Twitter and my nan getting her front bush trimmed at the age of 96.

"I can't wait to get back up on stage"

His 2018 tour begins in Birmingham on April 21 before finishing up with two dates in Liverpool in March 2019.

He will also be appearing at venues in Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds and London.

Tickets for all dates will go on sale on Sunday.
