A music festival which has proved popular in Glasgow is being taken to the Edinburgh Fringe.

The Edinburgh Summer Sessions will take place at the Ross Bandstand in Princes Street Gardens in August.

It comes after rapper Kendrick Lamar was confirmed as the first headliner of this year's annual Glasgow Summer Sessions.

Pop superstar Paloma Faith previously announced a show in Princes Street Gardens on August 17, although her concert is not yet part of the new festival.

The Ross Bandstand is currently undergoing a major revamp, with a temporary stage set to be built for the concerts.

In a statement, promoter DF Concerts said: "Today marks a truly exciting new era for Edinburgh's music scene, as leading Scottish promoters DF Concerts announce the inaugural, unique Edinburgh Summer Sessions music event.

"With Edinburgh's bustling arts festival and electric city-wide atmosphere in full swing, it's only right that the biggest names in music are brought to Edinburgh's unique stage this summer."
