A drama based around a hospital department in Edinburgh is returning to TV screens.

Trust Me, which told the story of a fake doctor, will feature a new cast after Jodie Whittaker landed the lead role in Doctor Who.

The second series, to air on the BBC, will also be filmed in Scotland after the first season drew six million viewers.

BBC drama controller Piers Wenger said: "The first series of Trust Me broke new ground for medical drama and I'm delighted to be welcoming it back for a second run with a completely fresh cast and a shocking new story, which is set to become as big a talking point as the first."

Screenwriter and NHS doctor Dan Sefton said: "This follow-up series will bring the same tension and twists of the original show to a brand new medical arena."
