Rock giants Queen have been announced as the latest headline act at this year's TRNSMT festival in Glasgow.

American singer Adam Lambert will take on the vocals of legendary frontman Freddie Mercury for hits such as We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody and We Are The Champions.

Original band members Brian May and Roger Taylor will also be returning to the stage.

Lambert first sang with the band on the final of American Idol in 2009 and the trio began touring together in 2011.

Original Queen bass player John Deacon quit music in 1997.

Glasgow band Texas and English rockers The Darkness have also been added to the bill but it's the addition of the band described by concert organisers as "a spectacular highlight" that is sure to generate most excitement.

Geoff Ellis, head of DF Concerts, said: "As bona fide music legends, Queen + Adam Lambert's TRNSMT show promises to be a spectacular highlight in Scotland's music calendar this summer, I'm sure the atmosphere will be electric when they step on stage."

Queen are the final headline act to be added to the bill after The Killers, Liam Gallagher, Arctic Monkeys and The Stereophonics were earlier announced for the festival that will take place on Jun 29-July 1 and then again on Friday July 6 before finishing off on Sunday July 8.
