Gary Barlow and Howard Donald gave the audience at an Aberdeen theatre a treat when they appeared on stage to introduce the opening night of The Band.

The musical is based on the 30 year career of the group and is in Aberdeen for a week-long run at His Majesty's Theatre.

Howard told STV Entertainment reporter Laura Boyd that the success of the show is down to a long-term connection between the band and their legions of fans across the UK.

"I think that the fact is that it's so touching and you know obviously we've been going 30 years means that its part of peoples lives."

Despite chalking up three decades of music, Gary revealed that Take That will be around for a while yet.

He said: "Obviously with a big tour for us next year, we definitely see this period as the end of Take That part two and we point to the future with this next show"
