The Spice Girls have announced an Edinburgh show as part of their UK reunion tour.

The iconic 90s pop group are set to perform at Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday, June 8, however their long-awaited performance will be without Victoria Beckham.

The band, made up of Geri Horner - Ginger Spice, Emma Bunton - Baby Spice, Melanie Brown - Scary Spice and Melanie Chisholm - Sporty Spice, broke the news to fans on Twitter on Monday afternoon.

The girls teased fans on Monday morning with a mysterious tweet, writing: "Our broadcast continues shortly... #FriendshipNeverEnds."

They then released a video announcing their dates for next summer.

Tickets go on sale on Saturday morning.

Singer Jess Glynne will join the Spice Girls as a "very special guest".

In a joint statement, the Spice Girls said: "We are beyond excited to be reuniting next year for a stadium tour.

"Bringing girl power and our message of friendship and love back to the stage feels more relevant than ever.

"We hope everyone can join us for one big Spice Girls party!"

The Spice Girls, formed in 1994 and one of the most successful acts of the decade, have not performed together since the London Olympics closing ceremony in 2012, and they last toured together ten years ago.

The group previously performed as a four-piece for two years after Horner quit the band in 1998.

The group went on hiatus in 2000 after recording their third album Forever, and are best known for their hits including Wannabe, 2 Become 1 and Spice Up Your Life.

In February this year, all five members of the group met up and confirmed plans to work on new projects together.

In July, Brown confirmed they would reunite this year, but said that one member of the group had been holding up proceedings.
