Pop queen Kylie Minogue is set to make her debut at Edinburgh Castle.

The Australian chart-topper has announced a series of special shows and will be visiting the Scottish capital for the first time since 1991 on Sunday, July 14 next year.

Mark Mackie, director of Castle Concerts, said: "We are delighted to have Kylie play Edinburgh Castle this summer.

"Without doubt, she is a true global superstar and voice of a generation, the atmosphere on the night will be truly electrifying."

Next summer's shows will see Kylie performing a series of career-spanning hits from her unparalleled back catalogue.

Kylie's latest album, Golden, was released earlier this year via BMG Records. It debuted at Number 1 in the UK Albums Chart and is her sixth Number 1 album to date.

It has spent 20 weeks on the UK album charts and is the best-selling 2018 release by an international female artist.

Nick Finnigan, executive manager at Edinburgh Castle, added: "Kylie Minogue's famous pop songs are sure to appeal to a wide audience and we look forward to hosting her next year when Edinburgh Castle once again transforms into the city's premier entertainment venue, with its stunning stage and unrivalled backdrop."

Tickets go on sale on Friday, November 16 at 9am.
