Iconic guitar legend Johnny Marr has been added to the Belladrum line-up.

Seen as one of the most influential musicians of his generation, Marr formed The Smiths when he was just 18 years old.

As well as performing as a session guitarist for acts including Talking Heads and Hans Zimmer, he has also released three solo albums.

The Coral, space rockers Hawkwind, Highland folk singer Julie Fowlis and English singer-songwriter Dodie have also been added to the festival's bill.

Scottish acts added to the line-up include folk trio Assynt, alt-rockers Paws, singer-songwriter Tamzene, and Gaelic songstress Kim Carnie.

Festival promoter Joe Gibbs said: "We are delighted to unveil our latest announcement featuring acts which have been high on our hit-list for years, including Johnny Marr, The Coral and Julie Fowlis alongside some amazing new acts such as Wildwood Kin, and west coast legends in the making Peat & Diesel."

Manchester band Elbow will headline the opening night of the Highland event - which is set to be out of this world as it takes on a sci-fi theme this year.

Scottish synth-pop group Chvrches will headline the Garden Stage on the Friday, while Jess Glynne will bring the festival to a close on the Saturday.

The festival, which will take place between August 1-3 within Belladrum Estate near Beauly in Inverness-shire, will also welcome unstoppable Scottish artist Lewis Capaldi, solo superstar Tom Odell, and fan favourites Colonel Mustard & The Dijon Five.

Once again, Belladrum will donate money to charity and the main benefactor for 2019 will be the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH).

Donations will be collected in memory of Frightened Rabbit's Scott Hutchison after the band was due to headline the Hothouse stage in 2018.

Following the singer's death last year, the festival instead paid tribute by playing the band's 2008 album, The Midnight Organ Fight, in full accompanied by a video message.

Tickets to Belladrum are on sale now.
