Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi has landed his first number one single.

The Brit Critics' Choice nominee has joked that he is a "one-hit wonder" after Someone You Loved jumped from number three to the top spot in this week's chart.

The song, which first entered the top 100 in January at number 66, takes over the top spot from last week's number one, Ariana Grande's 7 Rings.

Capaldi, who was lost out on the Brits Critics' Choice prize to Sam Fender, told OfficialCharts.com: "Look who it is at number one.

"If you've listened to it, bought it, streamed it... thanks very much. This is my first number one, so I'm officially a one-hit wonder on the Official Charts."

The charts accolade comes before Capaldi, 22, releases his debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent in May.

His highest-charting hit was his previous single Grace, which peaked at number 26 last year.

This week's number two is Giant by Calvin Harris and Rag'N'Bone Man, which finished the week 1,900 combined sales behind Capaldi.

Grande's Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored is at number three, and 7 Rings is at number four, while Mabel rounds off the top five with Don't Call Me Up.

Elsewhere on the singles chart, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's Shallow from A Star Is Born has climbed 10 places to number 11 following its best original song win at the Oscars.

Over on the albums chart, Grande has retained the top spot for the third week with her LP Thank U, Next.

It finished the week 5,000 combined sales ahead of its closest competitor, The Greatest Showman's official soundtrack.

The soundtracks for the films A Star Is Born and Bohemian Rhapsody are at number three and four respectively, and Staying At Tamara's by George Ezra is at number five.
