Chart-topper Lewis Capaldi surprised St Patrick's Day revellers with an impromptu gig at an Edinburgh pub.

The Scots singer, who has spent the last three weeks at the top of the charts with his hit tune Someone You Loved, performed an intimate set at Biddy Mulligans during Sunday's festivities before popping into The Three Sisters to continue the celebrations.

Shelly Kennedy, general manager at Biddy Mulligans, told STV News: "He was a really nice and genuine guy, out enjoying our St Patrick's Day celebrations with his friends.

"He was more than happy to take the mic and play a song, the crowds and staff absolutely loved it - it was a brilliant surprise for everyone."

On Facebook,  staff from The Three Sisters posted: "It must be a good venue if the UK number one wants to visit."

Capaldi will return to the city later this year to headline Edinburgh Summer Sessions on August 14.

Edinburgh Summer Sessions will see eight dates of incredible music brought to the capital, against the one of a kind backdrop of Edinburgh Castle in the Ross Bandstand, during Edinburgh International Festival.
