Firefighters injured when two engines crashed off the road and overturned in a field have left hospital.

The engines were heading to a car crash when they ran off the B9006 near Inverness on February 6.

Of the nine firefighters travelling in the vehicles, five were taken to hospital. Two were cut free by their colleagues.

The last member of the crew left hospital at the end of last week but only three have returned to work.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "Three of the nine firefighters involved in the collision are back at work and six others are recovering at this time.

"The last crew member receiving treatment in hospital was discharged at the end of last week.

"The service has assigned dedicated welfare support officers to support those crew members who are not yet able to return to work so that they can return to active duty as soon as possible.

"The two vehicles involved in the collision are not back in operation as they remain part of the investigation, which is ongoing.

"Two fleet appliances are currently serving the community of Inverness. Service provision at Inverness remains normal."
