A man is in serious condition after being found with head injuries in Inverness.

The 52-year-old was taken to Raigmore Hospital in the city after being found by members of the public around 1.20am on Sunday on Millburn Road.

Police said the 52-year-old could have been "in contact" with the occupants of a blue Ford Fiesta before being injured. An appeal was made to locate the vehicle, which was later traced.

Detective inspector Maggie Miller said: "We are appealing for anyone who saw saw the injured man in the Millburn Road area of Inverness near to the Morrisons Filling Station to get in touch with us on 101."
