A body found on Rum has been identified as a missing kayaker who vanished three months ago.

Jason Chung Wai-Ho disappeared after setting off from Traigh Beach on Arisaig in stormy weather on January 13.

A Maritime and Coastguard Agency-led search was launched when he failed to return but no trace of the 40-year-old Glasgow resident was found until his body washed up on Rum in the Inner Hebrides last month.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police Scotland can confirm that the body found on Friday 25th March 2016 on the Isle of Rum has been formally identified Jason Chung Wai-Ho.

"Mr Ho was last seen on January 13, 2016 around the area of Traigh Beach in Arisaig.

"His family are understandably upset by their loss and have said that he will be greatly missed."

Mr Ho's family made no further comment, but in the days following his disappearance thanked the emergency services for their work.
