A haul of drugs worth more than £117,000 has been seized by police in a week-long series of raids.

The operation was carried out in the Caithness, Ross-shire, Inverness and Nairn areas of the Highlands over the last seven days.

Large quantities of heroin and cannabis were recovered, along with a number of unknown tablets and mushrooms.

A total of 17 people have been reported to the procurator fiscal as a result of the operation.

Detective inspector Peter MacKenzie of the divisional intelligence unit said: "Tackling drugs is one of top priorities for Police Scotland and the action taken over the last week demonstrates our commitment to dealing with this issue.

"The Highlands and Islands remain safe places to live but can still be exposed to those determined to cause harm by peddling illegal drugs into our communities."
