A man has been killed in an industrial accident involving a forklift at a Highland harbour.

The incident happened on shore road near Invergordon harbour at around 8.45am on Friday.

The circumstances of the incident are unclear and police are investigating.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police were called to Cromarty Firth Port Authority, Shore Road, Invergordon this morning at 8.45am after receiving a report of an industrial accident involving a forklift.

​"Sadly, one man has died as a result of the injuries he sustained. His next of kin are being informed.

"A full investigation has been launched as a result of the incident and partner agencies are working closely to assist the police in their enquiry."
