A Belgian biker is in a serious condition in hospital following a crash during a motorcycle tour of Scotland.

The 55-year-old was part of a group travelling around the north of Scotland.

He sustained serious injuries in a collision with a blue Mazda 6. The driver and the passenger were uninjured.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police Scotland can confirm a motorcyclist is being treated for serious injuries in hospital following a two vehicle collision on the A87 near the Cluanie Inn.

"Officers attended the accident, which involved a black Triumph Tiger motorcycle and a blue Mazda 6 car, at about 4.50pm on Saturday May 7.

"The motorcyclist, a 55-year-old male from Belgium, sustained serious injuries as a result and was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where he remains in a serious condition.

"The motorcycle was part of a group travelling around the north of Scotland. The driver and passenger of the car were uninjured.

"The road reopened around 10pm.

"Enquiries are being carried out by officers from the Road Policing Unit in Fort William, and they are appealing for any witnesses who have not already been spoken to by police to contact them."
