The family of a missing hillwalker has been informed after a body was found in Glen Coe.

Robin Garton was last seen on September 25, 2015, when he left his hotel near Altnafeadh in Ballachulish with plans to meet friends in the Kinlochewe area of Wester Ross two days later.

The 69-year-old from Wiltshire never arrived and his Volkswagen Passat was later found in a car park off the A82 near Loch Achtriochtan.

A large-scale search was launched to find Mr Garton but he went untraced over the winter months.

On Thursday, walkers in the Stob Coire Nam Beith area alerted emergencies services after discovering a body, which was then recovered by Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team.

Mr Garton's family has been informed and thanked the team for their efforts. Formal identification will now take place.
